The Featurettes

Arrangements & Covers

There are storytellers of all sorts, scattered across the globe.

Their mediums are numerous, their instruments multitudinous, they are united in essence, telling the same story in different ways that reach different worlds, minds, and hearts.

It is only fitting to honor the works of others who share the trade.

For the next act, I should like to celebrate these other storytellers with my own arrangements of their works. Let the world shrink for a moment, hold it in your hand.

Battlefield Theme

COMPOSED BY JOEL ERIKSSON
 AND RUPERT GREGSON-WILLIAMS

This medley features the themes from the video game franchise Battlefield, including Battlefield 1942, and Modern Combat. Video games are often not considered a medium for storytelling in the same way books, music, and theater are, but challenge you to hear this theme and not launch yourselves onto a Battlefield, fighting for freedom and country.

Brothers

FROM FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST
COMPOSED BY MICHIRU OSHIMA

Featuring ocarina and tin whistle, this rendition of the beautiful anime melody "Brothers" was one introduced to me by a beloved cousin. Telling the story of two brothers searching for a way to cope with death.

Leliana's Song

FROM DRAGON AGE
COMPOSED BY INON ZUR

Tales of dragons have been spun many times throughout the ages. In our modern times, why should video games not take on the genre? This gem of a melody from the video game franchise Dragon Age combines the mystery of the mythical creature with the haunting beauty of the world it exists in.

Davy Jones

FROM PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST

BY HANS ZIMMER

Amidst the epic, swashbuckling motifs dominating the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack, there lies a lamentful lullaby, that draws you in with its tender beginning, and stops your heart as it builds into a tale of harsh betrayal, a life of cursed servitude, and the bitterness of a love lost.

Song Of Storms

FROM THE LEGEND OF ZELDA
BY KOJI KONDO

There are few video games that can boast as rich a story as the Legend of Zelda, and fewer still that can tell the story through the music alone. As you listen to the song of storms, can you see the windmill hut through the heavy rain?

Ninni

A TURKISH LULLABY
BY TOYGAR ISIKLI

This lullaby is a hidden gem, gently singing a child of a dark, dangerous, and heartless world to sleep. Its hopeless lyrics are matched only by the haunting melody accompanying them.

It Is Well

A Classic Hymn

Written By Kristene Dimarco, Horatio G. Spafford, Philip Paul Bliss

The original hymn was written after a tragic event, and yet is filled with hope and healing. The melodic version featured here was crafted after Kristene Dimarco's version from Bethel Music, featuring tinwhistle and mysterious Celtic undertone.

We Three Kings

(of the Pirate Ship Orient)

A Classic Christmas Carol

Featuring the Vocals of Sonya Krajicek

We Three Kings is quite the tale of adventure, hardship, and a meaningful journey to find the prophesied Messiah. It's melody lends well to many genres. This pirate-themed rendition builds on the adventure and wonder, featuring the double ocarina and the vocal talents of Sonya Krajicek

I Wonder as I Wander

A Classic Christmas Carol

This beautiful, timeless melody crafts an existential image of pondering the events detailed in the gospel writings. My arrangement explores the darker elements of the melody, played on a set of recorders, piano, and strings.

ENCORE, ENCORE

You have been a splendid audience, your enthusiasm and passion imbuing life into the melodies permeating the theater. I do hope you have enjoyed all you have heard tonight. You need not leave yet, for the curtains are not yet drawn, and there is still more of your tale that has yet to unfold.
